Abstract
This exploratory study analyses the effects of a pedagogical bridging activity aiming to develop future educators’ plurilingual, learning, and algorithmic awarenesses during social media use. The activity involves students reflecting on their consumption of online videos through social media and streaming platforms. Data was gathered at a Portuguese University from three students through essays, interviews, and auto-ethnographic journals. Results indicate the activity fostered plurilingual and learning awarenesses, as participants reflected on linguacultural diversity in social media, their language learning goals, and classroom applications of online videos. However, its contribution to algorithmic awareness was limited, highlighting the need for further research.
