In this talk I will present an ongoing teaching innovation project developed at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) using math trails with mobile technologies in Initial Teacher Training. The aim of the project is to provide prospective teachers with this educational resource so that they can incorporate it into their future professional practice. The learning experience is an integrated project focused on the creation of math trails by prospective students as a valuable outdoor problem-posing activity, including a final service-learning step where the trails are tested with school students.

As part of the project, future Secondary school math teachers worked with Augmented Reality (AR) features in a pre-designed route at the UAM Campus. The route consisted of a MathCityMap trail augmented with GeoGebra 3D applets, and contains various uses of AR at an outdoor setting. The uses that required more interaction with a GeoGebra 3D model to solve the task were considered more engaging by students. The AR experience showed good responses in participation and motivation, as well as noticing room for improvements.
